Taking a Mount Kailash tour through Ngari Gunsa Airport Ali Gunsa can save you days of driving across the Tibetan plateau, but it is not entirely "easy" because of the high altitude. A scenic flight between Lhasa Gonggar International Airport and Ngari Kunsha Airport (Ali Gunsa) takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. This is much more convenient than driving overland across Tibetan plateaus, which can take up to seven days. There are 255 kilometers between Ali Gunsa Airport and Lake Manasarovar, and it takes 4 hours by road via National Highway G219 to reach Darchen (the starting point for the Kailash Kora).
Lhasa is the capital of Tibet, and it is home to a number of ancient Buddhist temples, monasteries, and palaces. The city of Lhasa is located at 3650 meters above sea level and boasts various monuments, including Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple, Norbulunka Palace, and much more. It is impossible not to be mesmerized by the unique lifestyle and culture of many Tibetan ethnic groups when visiting this place. You will have two full days to enjoy the sights in Lhasa and to adjust to the climate and altitude of Tibet. Then you will drive along the Yarlung Tsangpo River until you reach Yam Dwar, the gateway to Mount Kailash.
The 6,714-meter-high Mount Kailash is a pilgrimage destination for Buddhists, Hindus, Jains, and Bon Po people. The mountain is known by Tibetans as Kangri Rimpoche, which is a sparkly mass of snow that feeds four major rivers in Asia. The Indus, Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Sutlej rivers are connected to Mountain Kailash according to Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The famous Manasarovar Lake (4580m.), also known as Mapam Yumtso, is literally translated as the lake of consciousness.
According to Hindu belief, drinking and bathing in the lake's water will cleanse one of all worldly sins and ensure one's place in heaven. For Buddhists, Manasarovar Lake is a sacred site where Buddha meditated, which is why looking at it is enough to provide spiritual enlightenment. The Ali (Ngari Gunsa) Airport in Lhasa serves Shaquan (Ali) in Ngari Prefecture in southwest Tibet. Located at 4274 meters above sea level, Ali Airport is the fourth highest airport in the world. The Tibet Airlines operates a daily flight from Lhasa to Ali Airport and Lhasa. The flight is 2 hours long.
Lhasa Acclimatization for Kailash yatra: Lhasa is typically your first stop on the trip, where you will spend two nights and three days exploring and adjusting to the high altitude (visiting the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Market Bharkhor bazaar).
Flight to Ali: The flight from Lhasa to Ali Gunsa airport (also known as Ngari Burang/Ali Pulan region) takes about two hours.
Kailash Tour Packages: This route is offered by companies such as Monterosa Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd. that offer fly-in/fly-out itineraries.
Subtle and Divine Presence: Shiva, Goddess Parvati, and their family are revered on Mount Kailash as their eternal abode. Lord Shiva and his divine realm, however, exist on a subtle plane rather than in a physical form visible to ordinary eyes, as stated in scriptures (such as the Puranas).
Role of Yoga and Devotion: In ancient texts and traditions, only advanced yogis, ascetics, and those who have purified their minds through meditation or spiritual realization may "see" or experience his divine presence. An average person sees the peak as a magnificent, snow-capped mountain.
Natural Rock Formations & Visuals: The light, shadows, rock faces, and snow patterns on the mountain's sides, such as those that resemble a face, a swastika, or alignments on the south face, are often interpreted as symbols or natural art rather than incarnations of the god.
Kailash Pilgrimage: The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is undertaken by devotees seeking spiritual connection and performing the sacred parikrama (circumambulation) around the mountain.

Touching the base of Kailash Mountain feels like a blessing from Lord Shiva. Pooja is performed by some pilgrims in order to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Getting back to Dirapuk takes approximately one and a half to two hours and it is a day tour / Yatra.
"Charan" means "foot" and "Sparsh" means "to touch". Together, these words mean "to touch one's feet". Touching Kailash Parbat's feet is a tradition that dates back thousands of years. "Charan Sparsh" has a scientific basis, as the human body releases vibrations touching the feet, which encourage the flow of energy and blessings, happiness and success. As a result of this exchange of energy, one gains vigor, self-confidence, and contentment. It is like receiving invisible blessings after "Charan Sparsh"
