The statue is 144 feet / 44 m in tallness, and was influenced utilizing copper, zinc, cement and steel. After visiting drive t0 Doleshwor Mahadev.
Visit Doleshwor (Doleshwor Mahadev Temple) for all the Shiva devotees, it is believed that the trip to Kailash is incomplete without visiting Doleshwor Mahadev and Pashupatinath temple. On Aug. 22, 2009, the Doleshwor Mahadev was officially declared as the head of Kedarnath, one of the Char Dham Yatra. All in the year 2013, after the devastating flood hit the temple of Kedarnath, situated in Uttarakhand, the regular prayers that were interrupted were carried out in Doleshwor Temple. The head priest of Kedarnath Temple requested regular prayers that used to be held in the Kedarnath Temple to be held in the Doleshwor Mahadev Temple. After Lunch visit Boudhanath.
Buddhist Temple Boudhanath Stupa: Named after its immense stupa, Buddha is a pilgrimage destination for Tibetans. Devotees stroll around the gleaming white dome adorned with painted Buddha eyes and visit nearby monasteries and schools for prayers and seminars. Boudhanath is a stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. Located about 10 km from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, the stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal. The Buddha Stupa dominates the skyline; it is one of the largest stupas in the world.
Pashupatinath Temple: Lord Shiva's temple Pashupatinath Temple is one of the four most important Shiva shrines in Asia. In addition to being the incarnation of Lord Shiva, Pashupati is also known as the lord of all animals. Pagodas are designed with golden spires, copper roofs, silver corners, and hand-carved wood carvings. There is a golden statue of Nandi (Shiva's bull) guarding the main temple's inner area. There is a UNESCO World Heritage Site named Pashupatinath Temple. Every evening, the Pashupatinath temple performs two Arati. Bagmati Ganda Aarti is performed outside the temple while the first is performed inside the temple.
Pashupatinath Temple Inner Aarti: At Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, the Evening Aarati ritual takes place daily after sunset, with the specific time varying by season before Bagmati Ganga Aarati begins. The enchanting ceremony includes priests, hymns, music, chanting, and the offering of lights to Lord Shiva, resulting in a memorable cultural and spiritual experience. Only Hindu devotees are allowed inside the Aarati. It is considered one of the holiest Hindu shrines in the world.
The Baghmati Ganga Aarti outside: As part of Hindu religious rituals, the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal, performs Bagmati Ganga Aarti nightly after Inner Aarati. Devotees gather on the banks of the Bagmati River to witness priests performing the ritual, which includes chanting, sacred offerings, and the movement of large oil lamps. Participants and observers feel a sense of peace during the ritual, which creates a spiritual atmosphere. There is no entry to the main shrine courtyard for non-Hindus, but they are welcome to observe the riverside Bagmati Ganga Aarti.
21 August 2026 (Friday) Day 03: Early in the morning, Kailash pilgrims are taken to Pashupatinath temple for Rudra Consecration called Rudrabhishek, Hawan and Aarati. Eleven Brahmins priests prepare for fire offering Hawan in Pavilion (Mandap) and do Sankalpa Pooja in the beginning followed by Swastibachan (Preaching), Nyas, Rudra preaching and Mahamritunjaya (Death victory) Pooja. The word ‘Rudra’, meaning ‘Fearful Lord Shiva’ has come from Rudrabhishek, Rudranti iti Rudri, Rudhiryoge Metal. It means there is pain, violence, greed among people in this Earth and we perform religious hymn in praise of God Shiva so that he escapes people from all these miseries of life and grants justice, good healthy, prosperity, peace and Salvation. This is why Rudri is done for Peaceful life. During Kailash Manasarovar tour, visit to Pashupatinath and its worship is the first thing to do for pilgrims. It is believed that worshipping Lord Pashupatinath, doing Aarati grants all kinds of good merits to devotees.
Rudrabhishek: In Rudrabhishek, holy substances such as milk, honey and water are used to bathe Shiva Linga during Vedic mantra chanting. This auspicious ceremony invokes Lord Shiva's blessings, removes negative energies, and promotes prosperity, health, and spiritual harmony. On an auspicious day during the full moon or the next day's morning, Nepali Braman Pandits perform the Kailash Yatra ritual in Manasarovar.
Rudra Hawan (Homa): A Hawan is an ancient Vedic fire ritual to invoke divine blessings, cleanse the environment, and promote spiritual and material well-being by offering ghee, grains, and herbs in a sacred fire (the Hawan Kund). In this ritual, fire represents the burning of impurities and the illumination of the soul, fostering a relationship between humans and the divine. For each Kailash Manasarovar group, Monterosa Treks and Expeditions arranges Rudrabhishek and Hawan at the Kathmandu Pashupatinath temple and Manasarovar Lake.
This is why Kailash Tour is believed to be complete only after a holy visit to Pashupatinath. Kailash Manasarovar is one of the most important pilgrimage sites. Kailash is pilgrimage even 12th Jyothirlinga and Shiva Temples. In this Universe, Humans are superior to Soul, Sages are superior to Humans, Gods are superior to sages and Lord Shiva is superior even to Gods and Kailash is the dwelling place of supreme Lord Shiva. So, every pilgrimage is believed to be incomplete without Kailash Pilgrimage. It is popular religious trend to wish for successful Kailash Manasarovar tour by doing Rudra (Shiva’s idol) Consecration and fire offering (Hawan) to Lord Pashupatinath, which takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Panchamrit Puja in Pashupatinath: Panchamrit, which literally means "five nectars," consists of milk, curd, honey, clarified butter and sugar. A Shiva Linga (Panchamrit Snan) is poured over the Panchamrit Snan (Bath), which represents Lord Shiva, in Panchamrit Puja. It is possible to perform Panchamrit Puja independently or in combination with other more elaborate rituals. This reverent act is carried out by priests to offer devotion and seek blessings from Lord Shiva. As part of the temple's morning rituals, devotees witness the deity being bathed as part of the Abhishek puja at Pashupatinath Temple, which takes place approximately 9:30AM to 11:00AM daily. The Abhishek Puja is a sacred Vedic ritual dedicated to Lord Shiva that involves ceremonially bathing the Shiva Linga with water, milk, honey, and chanting Vedic mantras. As part of the puja, the Linga is purified, offerings are made, and specific verses are chanted, such as the Rudra Suktam and the 108 names of Shiva. Such a bid is usually submitted by Monterosa Treks and Expeditions, a Nepalese company that specializes in Kailash Manasarovar Yatri.
Visit Guhyeshwari: What is the Shaktipeeth? The concept and definition of Shaktipeeth begins with the Ashyamed Yagya (an auspicious and spiritual fire ceremony in Hinduism) which was performed by Daksha Prajapati and his consorts and all the Kanyas (divine daughter princesses) and their bridegrooms. But the son-in-law Lord Mahadev was not invited which later the first wife Mata Sati Devi came to know and felt very sad and uncomfortable. After that she could not bear to insult Lord Mahadev, she jumped into the Yagya Kund and Fell unconscious and did not give up her body. After Lord Mahadev found out about Ashyamed Yagya in Kailash, Ashyamed attended the Yagya and sacrificed Daksha Prajapati body.
Mahadev Shiva carried Sati Devi's dead body from the Yagya Kund on his shoulder being mad and grieving, he wandered around the universe while walking. The body parts of Mother Sati Devi fell into 51 places and became Shaktipeeth, which remain there to this day. Guhyeshori is a place where her private part (gopya) is believed to have fallen, some say it fell into her anus, which we call Guhyeshori. Among the Astha Matrika (eight mother goddesses), she is the mother of all. According to mythology, he is worshiped by both Hindu and Buddhist devotees. Visit the Guhjeswari (Guhyeshori) Sakti pith temple, which is 1 km east from the temple of Pashupatinath. After noon around 2:30PM start sightseeing with holy guide to Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan) Vishnu Temple located in Budhanilkantha, Nepal, is a Hindu open-air temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Budhanilkantha Temple is situated below the Shivapuri Hill at the northern end of the KTM valley & can be identified by a large reclining statue of Lord Vishnu.
Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan) portrays a sleeping Vishnu, floating like a gigantic astronaut on a bed of snakes in the middle of a big pool of water depicting the cosmic ocean. The name Budhanilkantha has nothing to do with Buddha, but literally means “blue throat disguised by mud”. The peculiar name refers to two legends attached to the statue, one of them saying that a farmer found the long-lost statue in the mud when working his field with a plough and the other saying that Vishnu sacrificed himself by drinking the poison of the cosmic ocean, which then turned his throat blue. After visiting Jal Narayan, back to hotel and after towards free.

At a height of 150 meters, the Potala Palace is located in the central part of Lhasa city. A meditative office building and an administrative office building are adjacent to the palace. A red palace symbolizes meditation, while a white palace represents transparent administration. In Tibetan, 'Lhasa' means 'The Land of Gods and Goddesses'. There are different varieties of magical Buddha idols in the Red Palace, while in The White Palace, there are meditation rooms, living rooms, and meeting rooms for foreign guests of the Dalai Lama. Lhasa city is a valley which is also adjacent to two sacred rivers namely, Lhasa and Brahmaputra. According to Buddhists, it is believed that one can obtain ‘Nirvana’ meaning ultimate salvation by having divine view (Darshan) of Potala Palace and Jokhang Monastery at least once in one's lifetime.
The Potala Palace: The palace was built in the 7th century by Songtsan Gampo, and it was expanded by the 5th Dalai Lama to its present size. At this time, it also succeeds in becoming the residing, the main political and religious palace of the Dalai Lama. In addition to living quarters, temples, tomb stupas and monk dormitories, the main palace was divided into two sections: the white palace and the red palace. It is 115.703 meters high with thirteen stories. This palace contains countless cultural relics, including murals, sutras, and images, all of which are valuable. Besides being classified as national treasures, these Tibetan arts and culture are also listed as one of the most important cultural relics to be protected by the state council. In addition to 13th Dalai Lama's entombment, 6th Dalai Lama's entombment remains mysterious and unknown.

In the Potala Palace, there are a thousand rooms, out of which 27 are open to the public, such as the Bed Room, Living Room, Study Room, Meeting Room and the Entombment Place of Dalai Lama, the current 14th Dalai Lama, who lives in India since 1959.

Lunch is served here when we stop our van or bus. We continue driving towards Hor near the holy Lake Manasarovar, observing beautiful scenes and naked hills along the way. The Monastery is situated just 500 meters away from Guru Rinpoche's ancient meditation cave with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and Kailash and Manasarovar lakes.
The Lake of Manasarovar: The Manasarovar Lake, also known as Brahma's Lake or Mapam Yum Tso Lake, is located at an altitude of 4850 meters above sea level. Manas means mind or consciousness and Sarovar means lake. There is a deep spiritual influence and a wide range of religious values among Hindus and Buddhists. It is believed that taking a holy bath in the Lake will purify one's soul and body from sin. This lake is mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures as a must-see place for anyone seeking salvation - the highest level of achievement in Hinduism. There is something very charming about the cascading waves of the Lake in the wind.
Ramayana says that a person who bathes in the pure water of Manasarovar Lake directly reaches heaven after death. The person who drinks the water of this lake recognizes "Shivalok", the palace of Lord Shiva, according to scripture. From Manasarovar Lake, Kailash Parbat is 58 kilometers away. As it flows eastward from Manasarovar Lake, the Brahmaputra River is called the Brahmaputra. There are many people who want to visit Kailash Parbat and Manasarovar Lake at least once in their lives.
During full moon nights, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati bathe in Manasarovar Lake from 2 AM to 4 AM. We can see also stars bathing in this lake every night as well, while Parvati mata is the only one to bathe the other every night. At night, pilgrims are said to be able to live and watch God there if they stay at this place Manasarovar Lake. A Hindu religious book mentions that all Hindus should visit Manasarovar at least once in their lifetime, since it covers a very large area that is pure.
Holy Hot Springs Place of Traditions: There is a monastery called Chiu Monastery with a natural hot spring on a hilltop near Lake Manasarovar. Chiu Gompa's thermal springs are not only a great place for cleansing, but also for bathing and spiritual renewal. Manasarovar is now protected by local Tibetans, who maintain a small bathhouse for natural hot water bathers.
Rakshas Lake (Demon King Ravana Lake) Sarovar: Hindu tradition has given this lake its name Rakshas. Carnivorous monsters are believed to hide in the dark waters by Hindus. This belief led people to call it Rakshas Tal and stay away from this lake, considering it a symbol of dark and destructive forces. Tradition has it that the water of this lake is poisonous and fatal. In order to replace the poisonous water of this lake, a tunnel was built from Manasarovar Lake. In this lake, there is pure water and a golden fish. The lake's negative reputation changed and people began to go nearer to it, but they still don't drink the water.
This lake was meditated in by Ravana during the Treta Yug, according to Hindu mythology. To the west of Manasarovar Lake is Rakshas Lake. The altitude is 4,540 meters above sea level. There are many birds in Manasarovar Lake, including ducks, but none in Rakshas Lake.
Watch Kailash Tour VideoRudrabhishek in Manasarovar: The Rudrabhishek ritual involves bathing the Shiva Linga in holy substances such as milk, honey, and water while chanting Vedic mantras. During this auspicious ceremony, Lord Shiva's blessings are invoked, negative energies and obstacles are removed, and prosperity, health, and spiritual peace are promoted. Manasarovar is reached during the full moon night. Priests perform a ritual in Kailash Yatra, as well as Hawan the next day of mourning. Priests perform a ritual in Kailash as well as Hawan the next day of mourning.
29 August 2026 (Saturday) Day 11: From 2018 A.D., pilgrims will not be able to take holy dips in Lake Manasarovar. We set up a big tent for bathing inside the tent with holy water from Manasarovar. A Nepali brahman Pandit from Kathmandu conducts Rudrabhishek, Hawan, and Arati pooja after taking a bath to offer Tarpan/holy water offerings, flowers, and money to the God. Our company Monterosa Treks and Expeditions is providing Nepal Braman Pandit who will perform Rudra Abhishek, Hawan, Aarati, and chant Shiva mantra during the event and rituals. In order to relieve themselves of any kind of sin they may have committed knowingly or unknowingly, pilgrims can pray for Lord Shiva and recite the names of their ancestral gods, and perform Hawan (offering grains mixed with butter) in the name of gods. After you have completed all spiritual activities, have lunch, then drive to Darchen, which is 40KM away and takes about an hour to reach. Darchen is the base camp for Mount Kailash. The Kailash circuit starts and ends here, and it is 53km long.
Khojarnath Ram Sita and Laxman Temple: The Khojarnath temple is located 85 km south of Lake Mansarovar in the Tibetan village of Khojarnath. The Lord Rama, Sita Mata and Lakshmana passed a night here during the Treta Yuga while on a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar. There are three deities in this temple, one of which is Lord Rama, the other is Sita Mata, and the third one is Lakshmana. A puja is performed here every day by the local pujari. From Mansarovar Lake, 85 kilometers away, there is this temple with images of Rama, Sita, and Lakshman. It takes approximately four hours for a jeep to travel 170 kilometers round-trip. The temple is located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
Mount Kailash: Kailash Parbat is located at 6714 meters above sea level, the height of the sacred religious place. Religious purity is supposed to be at its highest in this region. Prior to the origin of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, it was supposed to be the center of the world. Ramayana and Mahabharata glorify Kailash Parbat. There is no civilization without a description of Kailash Parbat in ancient Asian stories. The Kailash Parbat is situated in Tibet. There is a lack of satisfactory scientific research in this region. It extends from Brahmaputra in the east to Karakoram in the west.
Although they explained Kailash differently, different religious groups like Shaiba, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bon-Po respect it equally. According to traditional Buddhist and Shaiba literature, Kailash lies at the center of Sumeru, the world's center. Hindus believe it is the residence of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. In the name of Kang Rimpoche, Buddhists revere it. Kailash and Manasarovar are considered great natural Mandalas by Buddhists. For them the Mandala is a symbol of respect and salvation. For this isolated peak the Jains worship it as Astpada. In the same place Rishavadev, the founder of this religion, received spiritual salvation.
Various logics can be used to claim that this Parbat is sacred. From this isolated Parbat, big rivers like the Brahmaputra, the Satlaj, the Indus and the Karnali originate. There are 53 km around Mount Kailash, and pilgrims should walk 38 km within three days, or four days if they combine the Charan Sparsh (Touch Kailash) tour. In Hindu mythology, a person who moves around Kailash Parbat will be free of all sins committed during his or her lifetime. They get Nirvana if they move around the Parbat 108 times. The legend also says that moving Nandi once is equivalent to moving around Kailash 13 times.
The water flowing from Kailash Parvat's snowy tip is worshiped as Ganges, the holy river flowing from Lord Shiva's form. From the side of this monastery, one can see Mount Kailash more clearly. Mount Kailash can be seen between Mount Manjushree at right and Mount Bajrapani at left when viewed from Dirapuk. The Ganges River, which originates from Mount Kailash, meets the Lachhu River and mixes with Rakshas Lake. Rakshas Lake receives water from every river that flows from the Kailash Himalayan Ranges. It is called Karnali because it forms at the junction of Rakshas Lake and Rakshas Lake Junction. Rakshas Lake water escapes through the Karnali River, but Manasarovar water is stored in Lake Manasarovar.
30 August 2026 (Sunday) Day 12: This is the first day of the Kailash Parikrama/Kora from Darchen to Yam Dwar & Dirapuk. Drive to Yam Dwar in the morning and walk to Dirapuk (12 kilometers/4890 meters). From Yam Dwar, we start our Kailash circumambulation [kora] circuit/round/parikrama. Due to the distance of only 6km, the blue bus takes 20 minutes to reach there. The place is also called Yam Dwar. At Yam Dwar, all the pilgrims are offering to Shiva after getting off the bus. After that, we walked around the Yam Dwar three times. The Gate of the God of Death (Yam Dwar) is known as this place in Hinduism. In the shape of a temple, Yam Dwar built it.
Yam Dwar in Kailash: The holy mountain is a significant spiritual site. Yam Dwar is believed to represent a spiritual portal through which worldly concerns are replaced with spiritual concerns. The sacred circumambulation around Mount Kailash begins at Yam Dwar, which means "Gateway of Death." A pilgrim's spiritual journey of purification and enlightenment begins with parikrama (circumambulation).
There are three bells inside, called Barma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. There are three circuits inside the door of this temple. The first day of Parikrama begins with belling and continuing to walk or ride a pony to Dirapuk. During the pilgrimage on foot, physically handicapped pilgrims pay homage to Kailash Parbat at a distance and return to Darchen because the visit to Yam Dwar is believed to provide equal religious gain as the visit to Kailash Parbat itself. Nepali workers, pilgrims, horses, porters, yaks, and porters are all on this path or trail.
We stopped for lunch after walking along the Lachhu riverside path for three hours. From here, Kailash Parbat can be clearly seen. We can see an elephant-shaped stone below the Parbat. It is believed that God Indra rides on it. We can reach Dirapuk after walking for two hours. Lha Chhu River has a Dirapuk Monastery situated on its banks. Its name is derived from the name of the monastery. It is located at a height of 4900m. above sea level. Seeing Kailash from here is like seeing heaven.
It is estimated that more than 500 pilgrims arrive at Dirapuk every day riding on horseback or walking from Yam Dwar. Some Yatri prefers to take a pony and a porter for the 4 days, (If you wish to take a pony and porter, please inform the Tibetan guide in advance). Today, I have to walk continuously for about five to six hours. All our goods and equipment, as well as your bags, will be carried by Yak. You can see the north face of Mt Kailash from Dirapuk mud house/guesthouse, where you can spend an overnight stay.
Watch Kailash Tour Video Charan Sparsh / Touch Kailash North face: It takes pilgrims 5 kilometers from Dirapuk to Mount Kailash, also known as Charan Sparsh, after breakfast. It feels as if a blessing has been bestowed upon you from Lord Shiva when you touch the base of Kailash Mountain. During the pilgrimage, the pilgrims offer Pooja to Lord Shiva and seek his blessings. A day trip from Dirapuk requires approximately one and a half to two hours of travel on the return journey.
"Charan" means "feet" and "Sparsh" means "touch". "To touch one's feet" is the meaning behind the two words together. Touching Kailash Parbat's feet has been a tradition since ancient times. Human vibrations touch the feet, which promotes blessings, happiness, and success through energy flow. One feels vigor, self-confidence, and contentment as a result of this exchange of energy. There is a glow emanating from within. "Charan Sparsh" is like an invisible amour that one receives after "Charan Sparsh". The second night will be spent in Dirapuk, which provides motivation and strength.
Watch Kailash Tour Video 31 August 2026 (Monday) Day 14: Walking or horseback riding from Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk. We have to pass Dolma La Pass, which is 5636 meters above sea level today. The weather at Dolma La Pass can be unpredictable, and sometimes snowstorms may occur. Therefore, we should start our journey as early as possible in the morning. Our route passes Ganesh Kund and Gauri Kund lakes. After climbing down the pass, you will reach Shapje Datok and Zuthulpuk monastery. Approximately nine to ten hours are needed to complete the 22KM distance. A mud house in Zuthulpuk will be your home for the night.
GANESH KUND (SAROVAR): It takes about 45 minutes to reach the 5636m Dolma La pass. The holy Ganesh Kund is located on the right-hand side of the walking trail (Kailash circuit). The walking trail is 15 minutes away. There is a Kund in the shape of Lord Ganesh where he bathes.
THE LEGEND OF GAURI KUND: The legend of Shiva Purana mentions a story about Gauri Kund or Parvati Kund, which is part of Hindu mythology. In the Puran, Gauri Sarovara is for purifying the mind, body, and speech of Kailash Yatri. Almost all Yatri of Kailash Manasarovar tours include their tour program.
Gauri Kund is for holy bath to Goddess Parvati Mata. Gauri Mata had resuscitated her beloved son Ganesh from frothing cleaning agent on her body. During her sacred deep, Ganesh was placed at the path to prevent the unknown from entering. Lord Shiva came to his residence at Mt Kailash at the same time, but Ganesh ji did not recognize it. As a result, Lord Shiva became furious and cut off the kid's head. Mata Parvati became distressed by seeing it and asked Lord Shiva to bring the child back to life so she could regain her son. Kailash tour Yatri is fascinated by this true story.
THE MEANING OR SIGNIFICANCE TO VISIT GAURI KUND: By splashing the Jala on their heads, Kailash Yatri purifies their minds, bodies, and speech during their Parikrama or Kora. For their ancestors to have peace in heaven, they offer TARPANA and Jala (holy water). Their homes are filled with holy water brought from the Kund.
WHERE IS THE GAURI KUND LOCATED?: On the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra tour, after crossing steep descents of the Dolma La pass, the highest pass, GAURI KUND is located at 5608 meters above sea level, but there is no walking trail, so one has to walk on massif rock.
01 September 2026 (Tuesday) Day 15: We walk about three hours to Chongdo on the last day of Kailash Kora, then drive to Darchen. During the overnight stay, check into a 4-star hotel. A short walk from Serlung Gompa leads to ASTAPADA where you can experience the holy sights of lord Kailashnath and Nandi Parvat after having lunch. The hill is called ASTAPAD and the Tibetan Buddhist monastery Serlung Gompa is located there. The hill is revered by both Buddhists, Jains.
Known as Astapad, "the mountain hill of the eight steps" is also known as the mountain hill of the eight steps. An amphitheater in the mountains is home to the nearby sacred site of Astapad, located at the foot of Mount Kailash's south face. In Jain mythology, Astapad is the place where the first Jain Tirthankara attained nirvana. In Astapad, a mountain amphitheater near Mount Kailash's base, you can see Mount Kailash's south face as well as Nandi Parvat. Furthermore, Nandi Parvat, located near Kailash, can also be seen from Astapad. The distance between Astapad and Darchen is approximately 5 kilometers.
02 September 2026 (Wednesday) Day 16: Darchen and Saga are approximately 493 km apart, and it takes approximately 7 to 8 hours to drive this route, passing Lake Manasarovar along the way. Darchen is the starting point for Mount Kailash Kora (pilgrimage kora). Especially for travelers coming from Lhasa or other parts of Tibet, the journey from Darchen to Saga is an important part of many itineraries. The landscape features vast plateaus, mountains, and the Brahmaputra River, with the altitude decreasing significantly from Darchen to Saga, which aids in recovery from altitude sickness. Spend the night here in Saga.
03 September 2026 (Thursday) Day 17: During a Kailash Yatra, travelers can take a tourist bus from Saga to Shigatse, a scenic drive of approximately 7-8 hours. The route often follows the smooth highway, passing through Lhatse and offers views of the Tibetan countryside and high passes. The journey from Saga to Shigatse is a key leg of the Yatra, connecting the plateau region to the city of Shigatse before continuing the journey. Overnight in Shigatse.
04 September 2026 (Friday) Day 18: Traveling early morning from Shigatse to Gyantse and then to Tibet's Gonggar Airport would typically require a road trip, stopping in Gyantse and finally reaching Gonggar Airport for our final departure.
