Pilgrims from four major faiths visit the site, including Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bonpo. As the holy abode of Shiva and Parvati, Mount Kailash (6714m.) is revered by Hindus. It is enough for Hindu pilgrims to attain salvation, or moksha, just by seeing the mountain. In Buddhist tradition, Kangri Rimpoche was the location where Buddha attained enlightenment. As part of their quest for enlightenment, Tibetans have circumambulated Kailash since ancient times. According to Jain followers, Rishabha Dev gained liberation/freedom by meditating on the mountain Astapada

Sacred Sites: A sacred place of worship for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Shikhas & Bonpo, as well as Lake Manasarovar.

Physical Moderate Challenge: Yatras are moderately challenging journeys, so physical, mental, and spiritual fitness is important for traveling pilgrimages. On foot or by pony, the Kora stretches 53 kilometers (33 miles), while the surfaced roads cover 15 kilometers.

Eligibility: Pilgrims must have a passport valid for more than seven months, be nine years of age, and not be older than 79 years.

Best Time to visit: The best time to go on a yatra is from May to September, when the temperatures are mild and not too cold.

In Hinduism and Buddhism, the mountain is considered the center of the universe, and in Jainism, the mountain is believed to be where the first Saint attained liberation/freedom during meditation. As per Hindu belief, Mount Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. In Hinduism, Kailash is regarded as a sacred place and a pilgrimage that leads to salvation and the purification of sins. In Buddhism, pilgrimages to Mount Kailash Manasarovar are seen as a pious act of spreading world peace and attaining enlightenment.

A pilgrimage to Mount Kailash Manasarovar is considered a pious act that leads to enlightenment by Buddhists. Kailash is specifically known as Mount Meru to Vajrayana Buddhists, a place of supreme bliss and home of Demchok. Manasarovar Lake or Mapam Yumtso to Tibetans, is just beside sacred Mount Kailash. The Buddhists believe Mapam to be the Lake of Anavatapta, where Buddha's mother Maya Devi gave birth to him. A meditation retreat can be found in the ancient Chiu Monastery situated on the shore of the lake. Kailash is a place of deep spiritual influence as well as wide religious belief among the four faiths.

Kathmandu Lhasa EBC Kailash Journey

20 June 2026 (Saturday) Day 01: We will meet you at the airport after your arrival in Kathmandu (1350m.) and guide you to your hotel. All guests should reach Kathmandu at 09:00 AM or earlier. In the afternoon, visit Kailashnath temple, one of Nepal's tallest Shiva temples. It is the second tallest Hindu deity in the world after the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue in Bali, Indonesia. About 20 kilometers from Kathmandu, the Kailash Nath Shiva statue is located in Sanga, Nepal. Doleshwor Mahadev is 144 feet / 44 meters high, and was constructed with copper, zinc, cement, and steel. After Kailashnath drive to Doleshwor Mahadev.

Visit Doleshwor / Doleshwor Mahadev Temple) Shiva devotees believe that a trip to Kailash is incomplete without visiting Doleshwor Mahadev and Pashupatinath temple. On Aug. 22, 2009, the Doleshwor Mahadev was declared the head of Kedarnath, one of the Char Dham Yatras. The regular prayers that were interrupted at Kedarnath, situated in Uttarakhand, were performed at Doleshwor Temple after the devastating floods in 2013. Regular prayers that used to be held at Kedarnath Temple are now held at Doleshwor Mahadev Temple as per the request of the head priest of Kedarnath Temple.

Buddhist Temple, Boudhanath Stupa: Known for its huge stupa, Buddha is one of Tibet's most important pilgrimage sites. The white dome is adorned with painted Buddha eyes and devotees visit nearby monasteries for prayers and seminars. One of Nepal's largest spherical stupas, Boudhanath is located about 10 km from Kathmandu's center and northeastern outskirts. With Hindu temples and deities incorporated into this Buddhist site, the stupa stands as a symbol of faith and harmony for centuries. It is said that the glory of Kathmandu Valley began here. Drive to Pashupatinath for Aarati Darshan.

Pashupatinath Temple: As one of the four most important Shiva shrines in Asia, Pashupatinath Temple is the temple of Lord Shiva. As well as being the incarnation of Lord Shiva, Pashupati is also known as the lord of all animals. It was designed as a pagoda with a golden spire, two copper roofs, silver corners, and hand-carved wood carvings. A golden statue of Nandi (Shiva's bull) guards the inner area of the main temple. Pashupatinath Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pashupatinath temple performs two Arati every evening. The first is performed inside the temple and the second is performed outside the temple in the Bagmati Ganda Aarti.

Pashupatinath Temple Inner Aarti: in Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, the Evening Aarati ritual takes place daily at the Pashupatinath Temple, occurring after Sunset with the specific time varying by season before starting Bagmati Ganga Aarati. This enchanting ceremony involves priests, hymns, music, chanting, and the offering of lights to Lord Shiva, creating a memorable cultural and spiritual experience. Inside of Aarati only for Hindu Devotees. The temple is regarded as one of the holiest Hindu shrines across the world.

The Baghmati Ganga Aarti outside: Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal, performs Bagmati Ganga Aarti nightly after Inner Aarati of Pashupatinath temple as part of the Hindu religious ritual. To the accompaniment of traditional instruments, devotees gather on the banks of Bagmati River to witness priests perform the ritual, which is characterized by rhythmic chanting, sacred offerings, and the ritualistic movement of large oil lamps. There is a sense of peace during the ritual, which creates a spiritual atmosphere for participants and observers. The main shrine courtyard is off limits to non-Hindu visitors, but they may observe the riverside Bagmati Ganga aarti.

21 June 2026 (Sunday) Day 02: Kailash pilgrims are taken to Pashupatinath temple early in the morning for Rudra Abhishek, Hawan and Aarati. Rudra, meaning ‘Fearful Lord Shiva’, comes from Rudrabhishek, Rudranti Iti Rudri, and Rudhiryoge Metal. It means people live in pain, violence, and greed on this Earth, and we sing a religious hymn praising Shiva so that he will deliver people from all these miseries of life and grant them justice, good health, prosperity, peace, and salvation. For this reason, Rudri is done for peace. During Kailash tours, pilgrims spend time at Pashupatinath and worship it. Aarati and worshipping Lord Pashupatinath are believed to grant devotees all kinds of good merits. The Kailash Tour is considered complete only after visiting Pashupatinath.

A pilgrimage site with numerous Jyothirlinga and Shiva temples, Kailash Manasarovar is one of the most important pilgrimage sites. Humans are superior to Souls, Sages are superior to Humans, Gods are superior to Gods, and Lord Shiva is superior even to Gods. Kailash is the dwelling place of Shiva the supreme. Panchamrit Pooja is held in Pashupatinath temple every morning from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Bhatta Poojari, a payable Pooja that includes a Pooja Thali, milk, Rudrachhe mala, flower garland, and a lamp. Pashupatinath fulfills all the desired wishes for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra / tour by offering Panchamrit Pooja for load. After receiving Prasad and Rudrashas mala, the ceremony ends. This Pooja is only open to Hindu devotees.

Rudrabhishek: As part of Rudrabhishek holy substances such as milk, honey, and water are used during Vedic mantra chanting to bathe the Shiva Linga. As part of this auspicious ceremony, Lord Shiva's blessings are invoked, negative energies are removed, and prosperity, health and spiritual harmony are promoted. Nepali Braman Pandit perform the Kailash Yatra ritual during an auspicious day in Manasarovar on the evening of the full moon or the next day's morning.

Hawan: Hawan is an ancient Vedic fire ritual in which ghee, grains, and herbs are offered in a sacred fire (the Hawan Kund) to invoke divine blessings, purify the environment, and promote spiritual and material well-being. Fire is used in this ritual to symbolize the burning of impurities and the illumination of the soul, fostering a relationship between humans and the divine. Monterosa Treks and Expeditions arranges Rudrabhishek and Hawan in Kathmandu Pashupatinath temple and Manasarovar Lake for each Kailash Manasarovar group.

Panchamrit Puja in Pashupatinath: Panchamrit, which literally means "five nectars," consists of milk, curd, honey, clarified butter and sugar. In Panchamrit Puja, these five ingredients are mixed with water and poured over the Shiva Linga (Panchamrit Snan (Bath), which represents Lord Shiva. Panchamrit Puja can be performed independently or in combination with other more elaborate rituals. As a way of offering devotion and seeking blessings from Lord Shiva, priests perform this reverent act. During the Abhishek puja at Pashupatinath Temple, which takes place approximately 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM daily. During this sacred ceremony, devotees witness the deity being bathed as part of the temple's morning rituals. Abhishek Puja, specifically is a sacred Vedic ritual dedicated to Lord Shiva, in which the Shiva Linga is ceremonially bathed in water, milk, and honey while chanting Vedic mantras. During the puja, the Linga is purified, offerings are made, and specific verses are chanted, such as the Rudra Suktam and the 108 names of Shiva. A bid like this usually comes from Monterosa Treks and Expeditions, a base in Kathmandu, Nepal that specializes in Kailash Manasarovar Yatri.

Visit Guhjeswari What is the Sakti pith? The concept and definition of Sakti pith begin with the Ashyamed Yagya (an auspicious and spiritual fire ceremony in Hinduism) which was performed by Daksha Prajapati and his consorts and all the Kanyas (divine daughter princesses) and their bridegrooms. However, Lord Mahadev was not invited, which later Mata Sati Devi became aware and felt very sad and uncomfortable. Having insulted Lord Mahadev, she jumped into the Yagya Kund, fell unconscious, and did not give up her body. In response to Lord Mahadev's discovery of Ashyamed Yagya in Kailash, Ashyamed attended the Yagya and sacrificed Daksha Prajapati's body.

The body parts of Mother Sati Devi that Mahadev Shiva carried fell into 51 places and became Sakti pith, which remains there to this day. A place called Guhjeswari is believed to be the place where her private part (Gopya) fell; some say it fell into her anus, which we call Guhyeshori. In mythology, he is worshipped by both Hindus and Buddhists as the mother of all the Astha Matrils (eight mother goddesses). Located 1 km east of Pashupatinath, the Guhjeswari (Guhyeshori) Sakti pith temple is worth a visit.

Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan), In the middle of a big pool of water depicting the cosmic ocean, a sleeping Vishnu is floating like an astronaut on a bed of snakes. A blue throat disguised by mud is the literal meaning of the name Budhanilkantha, which has nothing to do with Buddha. The peculiar name refers to two legends attached to the statue, one of which claims a farmer found the long-lost statue in mud while working his field with a plough and the other which claims Vishnu sacrificed himself by drinking poison from the cosmic ocean, turning his throat blue as a result.

A red palace symbolizes meditation, while a white palace represents transparent administration. In Tibetan, 'Lhasa' means 'The Land of Gods and Goddesses'. There are different varieties of magical

Buddha idols in the Red Palace, while in The White Palace, there are meditation rooms, living rooms, and meeting rooms for foreign guests of the Dalai Lama. Lhasa city is a valley which is also adjacent to two sacred rivers namely, Lhasa and Brahmaputra. According to Buddhists, it is believed that one can obtain ‘Nirvana’ meaning ultimate salvation by having divine view (Darshan) of Potala Palace and Jokhang Monastery at least once in one's lifetime.

The Potala Palace: The palace was built in the 7th century by Songtsan Gampo, and it was expanded by the 5th Dalai Lama to its present size. At this time, it also succeeds in becoming the residing, the main political and religious palace of the Dalai Lama. In addition to living quarters, temples, tomb stupas and monk dormitories, the main palace was divided into two sections: the white palace and the red palace. It is 115.703 meters high with thirteen stories. This palace contains countless cultural relics, including murals, sutras, and images, all of which are valuable. Besides being classified as national treasures, these Tibetan arts and culture are also listed as one of the most important cultural relics to be protected by the state council. In addition to 13th Dalai Lama's entombment, 6th Dalai Lama's entombment remains mysterious and unknown.

According to experts, the ashes of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Dalai Lama were kept safely at Jokhang Monastery after the funeral rites. In the Potala Palace, there are a thousand rooms, out of which 27 are open to the public, such as the Bed Room, Living Room, Study Room, Meeting Room and the Entombment Place of Dalai Lama, the current 14th Dalai Lama, who lives in India since 1959.

Hor is the starting point and the route extends to Chiu Monastery, Darchen and Yam Dwar before returning to Hor. While traveling, we carry hot lunch boxes and stop somewhere to eat lunch. In about two hours, we'll complete one-half of Manasarovar Lake's rotation. During the circumambulation, you can see 8 Buddhist monasteries as well as Rakshas Lake and Manasarovar Lake as you reach the top hills. Chiu Monastery is where we will stay overnight today and Mansarovar is where we will stay at the bottom.
Full Moon night in Manasarovar.

Guest house in Manasarovar: There are guest houses or mud houses available at the Chiu monastery below where Yatri is staying overnight. On a steep, rocky outcrop overlooking Lake Manasarovar in western Tibet, the Chiu Gompa (or Chiu Monastery) is a sacred Tibetan Buddhist monastery. There is an ancient meditation cave of Guru Rinpoche here with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and Kailash and Manasarovar Lake just 500 meters away from the Monastery.

The Lake of Manasarovar: The Manasarovar Lake, also known as Brahma's Lake or Mapam Yum Tso Lake, is located at an altitude of 4850 meters above sea level. Manas means mind or

consciousness and Sarovar means lake. There are a deep spiritual influence and a wide range of religious values among Hindus and Buddhists. It is believed that taking a holy bath in the Lake will purify one's soul and body from sin. This lake is mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures as a must-see place for anyone seeking salvation - the highest level of achievement in Hinduism. There is something very charming about the cascading waves of the Lake in the wind.

Ramayana says that a person who bathes in the pure water of Manasarovar Lake directly reaches heaven after death. The person who drinks the water of this lake recognizes "Shivalok", the palace of Lord Shiva, according to scripture. From Manasarovar Lake, Kailash Parbat is 58 kilometers away. As it flows eastward from Manasarovar Lake, the Brahmaputra River is called the Brahmaputra. There are many people who want to visit Kailash Parbat and Manasarovar Lake at least once in their lives.

During full moon nights, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati bathe in Manasarovar Lake from 2 AM to 4 AM. We can see also stars bathing in this lake every night as well, while Parvati Mata is the only one to bathe the other every night. At night, pilgrims are said to be able to live and watch God there if they stay at this place Manasarovar Lake. A Hindu religious book mentions that all Hindus should visit Manasarovar at least once in their lifetime, since it covers a very large area that is pure.

Holy Hot Springs Place of Traditions: On the hilltop near Lake Manasarovar, there is a monastery called Chiu Monastery with a natural hot spring. In addition to cleansing the sacred lake, the thermal springs at Chiu Gompa provide ritualistic bathing and spiritual renewal with healing water. Local Tibetans now protect Manasarovar and maintain a small bathhouse and payment system for those who take natural hot water baths there.

Rakshas Lake (Demon King Ravana Lake) Sarovar: Hindu tradition has given this lake its name Rakshas. Carnivorous monsters are believed to hide in the dark waters by Hindus. This belief led people to call it Rakshas Tal and stay away from this lake, considering it a symbol of dark and destructive forces. Tradition has it that the water of this lake is poisonous and fatal. In order to replace the poisonous water of this lake, a tunnel was built from Manasarovar Lake. In this lake, there is pure water and a golden fish. The lake's negative reputation changed and people began to go nearer to it, but they still don't drink the water.

This lake was meditated in by Ravana during the Treta Yug, according to Hindu mythology. To the west of Manasarovar Lake is Rakshas Lake. The altitude is 4,540 meters above sea level. There are many birds in Manasarovar Lake, including ducks, but none in Rakshas Lake.

Rudrabhishek in Manasarovar: Rudrabhishek involves bathing the Shiva Linga in holy substances such as milk, honey, and water while chanting Vedic mantras. The purpose of this auspicious ceremony is to invoke Lord Shiva's blessings, remove negative energies and obstacles and promote prosperity, health, and spiritual peace. During the full moon night, we reach Manasarovar. Priests perform a ritual in Kailash Yatra, as well as Hawan the next day of mourning.

30 June 2026 (Tuesday) Day 11: From 2018 A.D., pilgrims will not be able to take holy dips in Lake Manasarovar. We set up a big tent for bathing inside the tent with holy water from Manasarovar. A Nepali brahman Pandit from Kathmandu conducts Rudrabhishek, Hawan, and Arati pooja after taking a bath to offer Tarpan/holy water offerings, flowers, and money to the God. Our company Monterosa Treks and Expeditions is providing Nepal Braman Pandit who will perform Rudra Abhishek, Hawan, Aarati, and chant Shiva mantra during the event and rituals. In order to relieve themselves of any kind of sin they may have committed knowingly or unknowingly, pilgrims can pray for Lord Shiva and recite the names of their ancestral gods, and perform Hawan (offering grains mixed with butter) in the name of gods. After you have completed all spiritual activities, have lunch, then drive to Darchen, which is 40KM away and takes about an hour to reach. Darchen is the base camp for Mount Kailash. The Kailash circuit starts and ends here, and it is 53km long.

Khojarnath Ram Sita & Laxman Temple: Khojarnath is a Tibetan village located 85 km south of Lake Mansarovar, home to the Khojarnath temple. When Lord Rama, Sita Mata, and Lakshmana were on a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar during the Treta Yuga, they spent a night here. This temple, built in the seventh century, is dedicated to Lord Rama, Sita Mata, and Lakshmana. The local pujari performs a puja here every day. There are images of Rama, Sita, and Lakshman in this temple that can be seen after traveling 85 kilometers from Manasarovar Lake. Round-trip travel of 170 kilometers takes approximately 4 hours by jeep. Tibet Autonomous Region in China is the location of the temple.

Mount Kailash: Kailash Parbat is located at 6714 meters above sea level, the height of the sacred religious place. Religious purity is supposed to be at its highest in this region. Prior to

the origin of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, it was supposed to be the center of the world. Ramayana and Mahabharata glorify Kailash Parbat. There is no civilization without a description of Kailash Parbat in ancient Asian stories. The Kailash Parbat is situated in Tibet. There is a lack of satisfactory scientific research in this region. It extends from Brahmaputra in the east to Karakoram in the west.

Although they explained Kailash differently, different religious groups like Shaiba, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bon-Po respect it equally. According to traditional Buddhist and Shaiba literature, Kailash lies at the center of Sumeru, the world's center. Hindus believe it is the residence of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. In the name of Kang Rimpoche, Buddhists revere it. Kailash and Manasarovar are considered great natural Mandalas by Buddhists. For them the Mandala is a symbol of respect and salvation. For this isolated peak the Jains worship it as Astpada. In the same place Rishavadev, the founder of this religion, received spiritual salvation.

Various logics can be used to claim that this Parbat is sacred. From this isolated Parbat, big rivers like the Brahmaputra, the Sutlej, the Indus and the Karnali originate. There are 53 km around Mount Kailash, and pilgrims should walk 38 km within three days, or four days if they combine the Charan Sparsh (Touch Kailash) tour. In Hindu mythology, a person who moves around Kailash Parbat will be free of all sins committed during his or her lifetime. They get Nirvana if they move around the Parbat 108 times. The legend also says that moving Nandi once is equivalent to moving around Kailash 13 times.

The water flowing from Kailash Parvat's snowy tip is worshiped as Ganges, the holy river flowing from Lord Shiva's form. From the side of this monastery, one can see Mount Kailash more clearly. Mount Kailash can be seen between Mount Manjushree at right and Mount Bajrapani at left when viewed from Dirapuk. The Ganges River, which originates from Mount Kailash, meets the Lachhu River and mixes with Rakshas Lake. Rakshas Lake receives water from every river that flows from the Kailash Himalayan Ranges. It is called Karnali because it forms at the junction of Rakshas Lake and Rakshas Lake Junction. Rakshas Lake water escapes through the Karnali River, but Manasarovar water is stored in Lake Manasarovar.

Yam Dwar in Tarboche: A significant spiritual site, the holy mountain holds great significance. It is believed that Yam Dwar represents a spiritual portal through which worldly concerns are replaced with spiritual concerns. Yam Dwar, which means "Gateway of Death," represents the starting point of the sacred circumambulation around Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash serves as the starting point for parikrama (circumambulation), a spiritual journey of purification and enlightenment for pilgrims.

01 July 2026 (Wednesday) Day 12: This is the first day of the Kailash Parikrama/Kora from Darchen to Yam Dwar & Dirapuk. Drive to Yam Dwar in the morning and walk to Dirapuk (12 kilometers/4890 meters). From Yam Dwar, we start our Kailash circumambulation [kora] circuit / round / parikrama. Due to the distance of only 6km, the blue bus takes 20 minutes to reach there. The place is also called Yam Dwar. At Yam Dwar, all the pilgrims are offering to Shiva after getting off the bus. After that, we walked around the Yam Dwar three times. The Gate of the God of Death (Yam Dwar) is known as this place in Hinduism. In the shape of a temple, Yam Dwar built it.

There are three bells inside, called Barma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. There are three circuits inside the door of this temple. The first day of Parikrama begins with belling and continuing to walk or ride a pony to Dirapuk. During the pilgrimage on foot, physically handicapped pilgrims pay homage to Kailash Parbat at a distance and return to Darchen because the visit to Yam Dwar is believed to provide equal religious gain as the visit to Kailash Parbat itself. Nepali workers, pilgrims, horses, porters, yaks, and porters are all on this path or trail.

We stopped for lunch after walking along the Lachhu riverside path for three hours. From here, Kailash Parbat can be clearly seen. We can see an elephant-shaped stone below the Parbat. It is believed that God Indra rides on it. We can reach Dirapuk after walking for two hours. Lha Chhu River has a Dirapuk Monastery situated on its banks. Its name is derived from the name of the monastery. It is located at a height of 4900m. above sea level. Seeing Kailash from here is like seeing heaven.

It is estimated that more than 500 pilgrims arrive at Dirapuk every day riding on horseback or walking from Yam Dwar. Some Yatri prefers to take a pony and a porter for the 4 days, (If you wish to take a pony and porter, please inform the Tibetan guide in advance). Today, I have to walk continuously for about five to six hours. All our goods and equipment, as well as your bags, will be carried by Yak. You can see the north face of Mount Kailash from Dirapuk mud house/guesthouse, where you can spend an overnight stay.

Charan Sparsh: A pilgrim walks for 4 kilometers from Dirapuk to Mount Kailash, also called Charan Sparsh, after breakfast. The pilgrims offer Pooja and seek the blessing of Lord Shiva at the base of Kailash Mountain. This experience is similar to being blessed by Lord Shiva. As a day trip from Dirapuk, the return journey takes approximately one and a half hours to two hours.

As the word "Charan" means feet, "Sparsh" means touch. "To touch the feet" is the meaning of the two words together. It has been a tradition to touch Kailash Parbat's feet since ancient times. The vibration of the human body reaches the feet, which promotes the flow of energy and blessings, happiness and success. One feels vigor, self-confidence and contentment as a result of this exchange of energy. There is a glow emanating from within. It is as if you have received an invisible amour after receiving "Charan Sparsh.". They provide motivation and strength in return. During the second night, we will stay in Dirapuk if open Charan Sparsh

02 July 2026 (Thursday) Day 13: Walking or horseback riding from Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk. We have to pass Dolma La Pass, which is 5636 meters above sea level today. The weather at Dolma La Pass can be unpredictable and sometimes snowstorms may occur. Therefore, we should start our journey as early as possible in the morning. Our route passes Ganesh Kund and Gauri Kund lakes. After climbing down the pass, you will reach Shapje Datok and Zuthulpuk monastery. Approximately nine to ten hours are needed to complete the 22KM distance. A mud house in Zuthulpuk will be your home for the night.

GANESH KUND (SAROVAR): It takes about 45 minutes to reach the 5636m Dolma La pass. The holy Ganesh Kund is located on the right-hand side of the walking trail (Kailash circuit).

The walking trail is 15 minutes away. There is a Kund in the shape of Lord Ganesh where he bathes.

THE LEGEND OF GAURI KUND: The legend of Shiva Purana mentions a story about Gauri Kund or Parvati Kund, which is part of Hindu mythology. In the Puran, Gauri Sarovara is for purifying the mind, body, and speech of Kailash Yatri. Almost all Yatri of Kailash Manasarovar tours include their tour program. Gauri Kund is for holy bath to Goddess Parvati Mata. Gauri Mata had resuscitated her beloved son Ganesh from frothing cleaning agent on her body. During her sacred deep, Ganesh was placed at the path to prevent the unknown from entering. Lord Shiva came to his residence at Mt Kailash at the same time, but Ganesh ji did not recognize it. As a result, Lord Shiva became furious and cut off the kid's head. Mata Parvati became distressed by seeing it

and asked Lord Shiva to bring the child back to life so she could regain her son. Kailash tour Yatri is fascinated by this true story. THE MEANING OR SIGNIFICANCE TO VISIT GAURI KUND: By splashing the Jala on their heads, Kailash Yatri purifies their minds, bodies, and speech during their Parikrama or Kora. For their ancestors to have peace in heaven, they offer TARPANA & Jaal (holy water). Their homes are filled with holy water brought from the Kund.

WHERE IS THE GAURI KUND LOCATED?: On the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra tour, after crossing steep descents of the Dolma La pass, the highest pass, GAURI KUND is located at 5608 meters above sea level, but there is no walking trail, so one has to walk on massif rock.

03 July 2026 (Friday) Day 14: On the last day of Kailash Kora, we walk about three hours to Chongdo, then drive to Darchen. Check in 4-star hotel for overnight. Addition tour, after lunch and drive to Serlung Gompa walk for about 10 minutes to ASTAPADA and holy explore, have a Darshan of lord Kailashnath of South Face and Nandi Parvat. There is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery called Serlung Gompa, which is located on the hill and this hill is called ASTAPAD it is revered by both Jains and Buddhists as a sacred site.

"The mountain hill of the eight steps" is also known as Astapad. The nearby sacred site of Astapad is located at the foot of South face of Mount Kailash, in a mountain amphitheater. According to Jain mythology, Astapad is the place where the first Jain Tirthankara attained nirvana. You can see the Mount Kailash's south face as well as Nandi Parvat from Astapad, a mountain amphitheater at the base of Mount Kailash. Additionally, Nandi Parvat, which lies near Kailash, is visible from Astapad. Astapad is located about 5KM away from Darchen.

04 July 2026 (Saturday) Day 15: Darchen and Saga are approximately 493 km apart, and it takes approximately 7 to 8 hours to drive this route, passing Lake Manasarovar along the way. Darchen is the starting point for Mount Kailash Kora (pilgrimage kora). Especially for travelers coming from Lhasa or other parts of Tibet, the journey from Darchen to Saga is an important part of many itineraries. The landscape features vast plateaus, mountains, and the Brahmaputra River, with the altitude decreasing significantly from Darchen to Saga, which aids in recovery from altitude sickness. Spend the night here in Saga.

05 July 2026 (Sunday) Day 16: During a Kailash Yatra, travelers can take a tourist bus from Saga to Shigatse, a scenic drive of approximately 7-8 hours. The route often follows the

smooth highway, passing through Lhatse and offers views of the Tibetan countryside and high passes. The journey from Saga to Shigatse is a key leg of the Yatra, connecting the plateau region to the city of Shigatse before continuing the journey. Overnight in Shigatse.

06 July 2026 (Monday) Day 17: Traveling early morning from Shigatse to Gyantse and then to Tibet's Gonggar Airport would typically require a road trip, stopping in Gyantse and finally reaching Gonggar Airport for our final departure. For tourists, the drive is 310 kilometers and takes 4 to 5 hours. Fly to Kathmandu from Gonggar airport. Arrival Kathmandu airport, drive to hotel and check in. Free afternoon.
