Chiu Monastery or Chiu Gompa

The Chiu Monastery or Chiu Gompa is a sacred Nyingmapa Tibetan Buddhist site on the northwest shore of Lake Manasarovar, known as the "Sparrow Monastery." Located 40 km south of Darchen, it's famous for the meditation cave where Guru Rinpoche stayed for a week. In the Chiu Monastery, there is a guest house where Kailash Manasarovar Yatri can stay overnight during full moon nights and without full moon nights, as well as perform Hindu rituals like Rudrabhishek, Hawan, Arati, which are organized by Monterosa Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd.
